Do I Really Need a Custom Mouthguard?

If you’re playing contact sports, your coach may have recommended that you hop over to our website and purchase one of our custom mouthguards, and never really thought to explain why.

The truth is, between 13% and 39% of all dental injuries are sports related and approximately 25% of children in the UK will injure or lose a front tooth at some stage. It isn’t that these sports aren’t safe, just that the risk of tooth damage is increased in fast, physical sports (or if sticks, bats and balls are involved).

But why custom? Boil Fit guards are there for a reason, aren’t they?

It’s a good question.

We are currently developing our own range of safe, long lasting Boil Fit guards, for wearers who aren’t quite comfortable with fittings but who still need complete protection. Boil Fit mouthguards are created as a standard shape & size and you alter it for use; however a custom mouthguard is handmade with you in mind.

Custom mouthguards are comfortable, well-fitting and made from multiple laminates, to safely distribute the impact without dislodging or causing pain because they are handmade for the individual wearer’s teeth.

So it’s not just “because the coach said” or “because the dentist said so,” but really because it is the best dental protection.

As always, we’re on hand every day if you have any questions.
